Swedish developer announce end of year results for 2004 as well some forthcoming releases...

Digital Illusions have today announced their results for the end of the fiscal year 2004, and have also released some details about 2005 releases. Due to lower prices for their games, DICE experienced a reduction in operating revenues of 30% compared to the same period in FY2003, from SEK52.9 million ($7.68 million) to SEK36.8 million ($5.34 million.) In the same period, operating costs rose 18% from SEK42.2 million ($6.12 million) to SEK49.7 million ($7.21 million.) The company also moved offices in the fourth quarter, which cost the company SEK3 million ($0.44 million,) whilst the pre-tax profit margin dropped by a third.

Better news was to be had for the total year however, as net revenues for the FY2004 rose by 8% to SEK209.3 million ($30.4 million) from last yearâ??s SEK193.7 million ($21.8 million.) Operating income stood at SEK213.7 million ($30.0 million.) End of year profit fell by 32% from last yearâ??s SEK43.1 million ($6.26 million) to SEK29.4 million ($4.37 million.)

Away from the numbers and figures, DICE have also lifted the lid on a couple of interesting titbits of information. As weâ??ve already reported, the company is set to release the sequel to Battlefield this year, and the company have now confirmed that Battlefield 2 will be launched in June 2005 to be followed by Battlefield: Modern Combat on Xbox, PlayStation2, and Xbox2 during the Autumn 2005.

DICE also announced that a previous Xbox/PS2 title, which is currently untitled, has been upgraded from this generation to the next-generation Microsoft and Sony consoles - the game is set for a late 2006/early 2007 release.

Weâ??ll have more information on DICEâ??s release schedule for 2005 and beyond shortly...
