Auto Assault Sold For Scrap In August News

Launched in April 2006, NCsoft has today confirmed that the end is nigh for the post-apocalyptic vehicular MMO, Auto Assault. The publisher announced that the plug would be pulled on the less-than-successful title, developed by NetDevil, on August 31st.

The game, which pitched players across a desolate and stark Mad Max-style world, had previously been the focus of speculation in July 2006 when NCsoft created a single unified server. At the time, NCsoft denied that the move hinted at the game's demise; a year on, and it seems that the publisher's patience has finally run out.

The official website for Auto Assault, NCsoft states that:

"As of today, any player currently in the service with an active billed account will not be billed again. If players have previously purchased time via multi-month billing or time cards that extends their service past July 31, NCsoft will reconcile these accounts appropriately. There will be more announcements coming soon regarding the shut down of Auto Assault and its impact on current accounts."

NetDevil are currently working on the LEGO MMO for the LEGO Group, which is due for release in 2008.
