NCSoft to open the unified 'Nexus' server from today; is the end of the world nigh for the post-apocalyptic MMO...

Having only launched the game in April 2006, NCSoft has taken the decision to merge the servers of NetDevil's vehicular MMO, Auto Assault, from today. However the move, which is traditionally a sign of an online game hitting difficult times, has been described as a positive step by NCsoft; in a statement to TVG, one NCsoft representative said:

"We [NCsoft] see this as a positive move for our community and we are continuing plans to not only support the game, but to expand and improve it further."

The merger will bring together both North American and European audiences, with the sole server located on the western side of the Atlantic.

According to MMO subscription plotter MMOGChart.com, subscription levels for the title are so far reaching approximately 11,000 up to the end of June - though NCsoft stated that such figures were "purely speculative".

We'll have more news shortly...

The end was nigh over a year ago - surprised that it managed to hold out for as long as it did...
