Latest release schedule from Ubisoft finally ties down the launch of Altair and the Third Crusade...

One of the key brands to emerge in 2007, Ubisoft has finally revealed the release date for Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed. The game, which follows players as they track down and assassinate key figures during the time of the Third Crusade in the Middle East, will arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 from November 23rd.

The PC edition of the game has recently been pushed back into the first quarter of calendar 2008, which ends on March 31st next year.

Earlier in the year, Ubisoft's vice president of marketing, Tony Key, stated that the game would be "a huge launch for Ubisoft this year along with the added prestige of being the start of this exciting new franchise that is bringing something completely new to the market," further describing these first adventures as a "'must-have' title this holiday season."

Also, even if the comment wasn't spot-on, then it hardly makes its writer a "complete and utter failure in life". That's a little harsh, don't you think? They might be really good at tiddlywinks or something.

I think it's a very apt comment.  The original Assassin's Creed focussed on stunning visuals and lavish presentation, but completely forgot about putting an enjoyable game experience.

Thankfully they hugely improved upon it for the sequel.

This game is a perfect example of what is wrong with game development in this era of next-generation consoles. All the time and money is spent on graphics, neglecting the development of gameplay. Repetively tedious and tediously repetitive, this game is an absolute insult to the consumer and gamer. The developers should not be rewarded for producing this abomination. Don't buy it.
