Online multiplayer to return in a feature-packed fourth Assassin's Creed instalment...

Alongside a new trailer and screens for the game, Ubisoft has spilt a few details on this year's Assassin's Creed instalment, which will see the star of AC II and Brotherhood, Ezio Auditore walking in the footsteps of the series' original Assassin, Altair (who will also be a playable character in the game).

Ezio will journey to discover five ancient seals (not the mammals, we might add) that hold secrets about the Brotherhood of Assassins' future. Set in 16th century Turkey, the story will journey from Masyaf, a mountain stronghold of the Assassins during the Third Crusade, to the jewel in the crown of the Ottoman Empire, Constantinople.

The series' penchant for including real historical figures will continue in Revelations as Ezio crosses paths with Prince Suleiman, and gamers will also be introduced to new characters such as fellow master assassin, Yusuf Tazim and Sofia Sorto, a simple woman who attempts to become the subject of Ezio's affection.

In terms of gameplay, new weapons have been promised such as a hookblade, the ability to craft bombs, and a new take on the Eagle Sense. Ubisoft has also confirmed the return of online multiplayer with new modes, maps, and characters.

More as we get it, no doubt at E3 in a couple of weeks...

I was hoping for a new protaganist and new time period. I think one of the best locales would be France during the 1700's. The game would have guns, but they wouldn't be that dangerous as today, because flintlocks were oneshot-reload weapons. I think it work well with the rise of the firearm, and swords were still being used at the time. France also some of the best architecture in the world.(for those who don't know the eiffel tower was not around then). So please Ubisoft listen to these ideas.
