It seems there may be an Assassin's Creed sequel in the works, which is no great surprise seeing as Altair's stealthy trip through the Holy Land was a huge commercial success for Ubisoft. This news comes from a slip-up made by the Animation Director on the new Prince of Persia game, David Wilkinson.

When AusGamers asked Wilkinson whether the guy who did all the animations for Assassin's Creed was still working on the series, he said, "He's working on Assassin's."

Wilkinson was then asked whether he intends to move onto the Assassins Creed team after Prince of Persia, to which he replied:

"I'm not even going to try and pretend that I could fill this guy's shoes. Alex Droin (the Animation Director on Assassin's Creed) is a genius - no doubt about it. And he's busy making Altair even more beautiful. The last thing I saw him do was getting Altair to swim."

Assassin's Creed 2 isn't mentioned categorically, but it's fairly safe to assume that a sequel is in the works for Ubisoft's multimillion selling Crusades romp. Oh yeah, and Altair can swim now / is more beautiful. To be honest, it was a little unconvincing that he couldn't swim in the first game. A highly trained assassin without swimming skills seemed a bit dubious.
