Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter speculates that Assassin's Creed 2 could be set during the French Revolution...

Industry Analyst for Wedbush Morgan, Michael Pachter, has been fuelling the rumour mill once again with speculation that Assassin's Creed 2 could be set during the French Revolution.

After stating that Assassin's Creed 2 will be set "sometime in the 1700s", Pachter told Giant Bomb that he believed the French Revolution would be a likely historical hot-spot for Altair's next time travelling adventure.

TVG has contacted Ubisoft for comment on this matter and we're awaiting a reply.

While Assassin's Creed 2 has been as good as confirmed already, there's still no word on an estimated time of arrival for the sequel. In a recent Ubisoft post-earnings report conference call, the company's CEO Yves Guillemot would not confirm whether or not Assassin's Creed 2 will be coming out during Ubisoft's fiscal 2010 (between April 2009 and March 2010).

[Update] Ubisoft has since contacted us regarding this issue, providing the usual "no comment on rumour and speculation" response.

I'll admit I wasn't a big fan of the original but this one? Oh man. They've learned from their past mistakes it seems. I only hope this one's not plagued with glitches/bugs but then this IS Ubisoft so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Has anybody actually printed out the sheet and got the virtual arm on a webcam?  Look as though Altair will have plenty of ruffles and frills this tiem around.

Well we gave it 7/10 - so you're probably in the wrong place.  But let's hope the sequel improves on the sheer amount of repetition that was the blueprint for the original!
