Ubisoft confirms that Assassins Creed: Brotherhood is the title of its next instalment in the series...
Placeholder box art for a GameStop promotion of Ubisoft's next Assassin's Creed game has confirmed a previously rumoured title for the project and revealed some juicy nuggets of info on the game's touted multiplayer features.
"Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order," reads the box art's blurb (thanks, Kotaku). "Lead your own brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy. Rome.
"And for the first time, take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.
"A never-before-seen online multiplayer experience.
"Lead your own brotherhood of assassins, as Ezio, and conquer Rome," the box art text concludes.
A Ubisoft spokesperson has confirmed that the box art is legitimate, which in turn appears to confirm Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of the title (see the top right of the image). Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is expected to arrive this coming autumn. Expect more details at E3 next month...

My guess is a sequel to the PSP game in 2011, then the final PS3/Xbox360 game in 2012 (as people keep saying, for obvious reasons).
Based on no evidence though, just a hunch.

The story certainly spins-off from from ACII, but the city of Rome is new and there are a lot of added features in the single-player game that weren't in ACII. It's effectively Assassin's Creed 2.9.
