Duchovny Set To Return To Area 51 News

Midway today announced that it has secured a blockbuster Hollywood line-up to lend their talents to the forthcoming action-thriller, Area 51.

The cast includes such aptly fitting actors as David Duchovny and Marilyn Manson, along with Powers Boothe. Duchovny is cast in the lead role as Specialist Ethan Cole, a Special Forces soldier specialising in hazardous murder investigations, whilst Power Boothe will assume the role of Major Bridges. Perhaps the best casting comes from the news that Marilyn Manson will deliver an â??unforgettable performanceâ? as Edgar, the grey alien.

The storyline focuses around a distress signal received by the U.S. Army from Area 51, where a viral outbreak has forced the closure of a research facility and the accompanying quarantine procedures have locked all scientific and military personnel inside.

A small Special Forces unit including Specialist Ethan Cole of the HAZMAT (hazardous materials) Division is sent to investigate. As Cole, players will delve into the massive levels within the confines of Area 51, discovering a deadly mutagenic side effect of the virus that controls the minds of those infected, as well as an ancient alien colony buried beneath the facility. Players will uncover the truth behind chilling conspiracies as they come across the remnants of the extraterrestrial crash at Roswell, alien autopsies, and the faked lunar landing. Cole must solve the enigma of Area 51 before the viral mutagen is released and irrevocably mutates all life on Earth.

Area 51 is scheduled for release during the first half 2005 for the Playstation2 and Xbox; weâ??ll have a closer look soon.
