After revealing a contentious new payment scheme Codemasters confirms that the system has been dropped for the forthcoming ArchLord...

Scouting controversy with the introduction of the PlayPlus system, designed to offer multiple levels of a paid subscription, Codemasters today announced that it has decided to drop the system for the forthcoming MMO, ArchLord.

Due for release on October 6th, ArchLord will now follow a traditional standard monthly subscription fee of £8.99/$14.99/12.99 euros. The single fee will also include the credits mentioned in the PayPlus scheme, available to purchase in-game items and enhancements.

TVG conducted an interview with Codemasters Online Gaming Director of Marketing, Ed Relf, immediately after the divisive announcement. It seems that some of the confidence demonstrated by COG back then, has been diminished by feedback stemming from the incorporation of the system in the recent ArchLord beta-test.
