EA and Spicy Horse confirm the development of a new instalment in American McGee's Alice...

The twisted interpretation of Wonderland is to return, with confirmation that a sequel to the 2000 title, American McGee's Alice, is in development.  In a joint announcement, Electronic Arts and McGee's Spicy Horse studio, today revealed that the follow up will be heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Spicy Horse is based in Shanghai, and is currently putting its own twist on some classic fairy tales in American McGee's Grimm, available through GameTap.

“This new project is a dream come true for me and the fans who’ve kept the Alice flame alive,” said American McGee, senior creative director at Spicy Horse. “EA gave us creative latitude and support on the original game which resulted in something beautiful and daring. This trip through the looking glass promises to be even more exciting.”

“EA Partners is thrilled to team up with American McGee and Spicy Horse on the next instalment of the Alice franchise,” said David DeMartini, senior vice president and general manager of EA Partners. “American McGee’s interpretation of Alice was an instant classic, and EA Partners is ready to help him bring his innovative vision for the franchise to even darker, more exciting places.”

Twelve months ago, McGee revealed in his 'An American Game Designer in Shanghai' blog that the next title from Spicy Horse would utilise Unreal Engine 3 – it now seems likely that 'Alice 2' is the game in question.
