PSP Aliens Vs. Predator This Christmas Season News
The series is back in safe hands as legendary AVP developers Rebellion are back on board...
By Gwynne DixonPosted: 15/08/2007
Sierra, a reinstated underling of publishers Vivendi Games, has revealed that they will be releasing an Aliens Vs. Predator game on the PSP as a movie tie-in to the new Aliens Vs. Predator film that's due out this Christmas. Better yet, the game is in the safe hands of developers Rebellion, who were responsible for the cult-classic Alien Vs. Predator games on the PC and Atari Jaguar, which are based on the original comic series.
The game's format will be a third person shooter where players take on the role of the Predator, and are tasked with hunting down and killing the Aliens. The Predator's inventory will be accessible via the infamous wrist panel, with both thermal vision and cloak technologies available. Weapons such as wrist blades, shoulder cannons and laser trip mines will also be on offer.
"We're pleased to once again partner with Twentieth Century Fox to deliver an engaging interactive extension to the film," said Al Simone, senior vice president, Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "Pitting two of Hollywood's most popular and terrifying monsters against each other, the upcoming Aliens/Predator movie will provide a gripping gaming experience for not only fans of the film, but anyone with a PSP system."
A co-op wireless multiplayer mode will also feature in the game, where players can team up to fight the viciously stealthy Aliens. Additionally, an honour point system, based around whether players follow the Predator value system, will unlock new weaponry and armour with the ascending honour achievements.
Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President of Fox Licensing & Merchandising added, "The Aliens/Predator franchise is a crown jewel in the Fox portfolio and one of the most exciting properties for interactive content. Sierra Entertainment will create a game that will keep both fans of the films and avid gamers alike engaged for hours of immersive gameplay."
