Aliens: Colonial Marines appears to be Gearbox's top priority now that Borderlands is out of the way...
Gearbox Interactive's CEO and President, Randy Pitchford has reassured gamers that the studio is still working on Aliens: Colonial Marines despite the game's slide into obscurity after missing its previously slated 2009 release window.
"We have an Aliens game with Sega and 20th Century Fox which we're really excited about. It's the thing I've been stealing from all my career. Now I'm really working on it, but we've been quiet about that so far," Pitchford told MCV.
It appears Borderlands played significant role in the delay of Colonial Marines, as the Take-Two Interactive project dominated Gearbox's resources and effectively placed Colonial Marines on the back-burner.
"Borderlands took over Gearbox," said Pitchford. "We had so much fun working on that and when we finished we wanted to carry on. And the DLC - we've launched two so far and there's a third to come which take us to a new level in every way."
Colonial Marines had formed part of an Aliens trilogy from publisher SEGA that included Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator and Obsidian's Aliens RPG. While the Aliens RPG was canned last year, AVP launched to mixed reviews last month but managed to claim the number one spot on the UK charts for its first week on the market.

i hate this bloody waiting bull crap its been how bloody long cmon sega over 5 years now whats the bloody problem.avp was a waste of gaming time then u go and cut support for the only aliens based game we had.this game should be ready now as an apology for the crap we put up with from publishers and devs like u pull out and sell the bloody liscence to a company that knows how fans feel sod sonic and what ever crap ur working on now and get urselfs a decent game out

This is BS - AvP is horrible and all the previous AvP games have been mediocre at best. I'm so mad about this right now. I thought the guy in the Gamestop store had lost his mind when he told me "Next Year". Alien and Aliens need a game of this calibur to bring it back strong. Pushed out over a year? Yeah right - we'll be lucky to ever see this game. I will not be purchasing another crappy AvP game.

I got a funny feeling that this may turn out just like the other aliens:colonial marines a no show! which will really piss me off along with other alien fans, dont get me wrong i love AVP, but would really like this game

Listen I really think they need to come out with this game first due to the fact of well what if we do not like AVP ok what then you are not going to put out Alien:colonial marines. I mean ths game is already done why don't you guys just send it out for us to see what it is like and then when you guys get finished with AVP since you guys are not even done making it we might get it if we like that alien game.

Well considering Aliens: Colonial Marines wont be out till 2010, it's an easy choice surely?

I just saw that this game was coming out when I was looking through an Xbox 360 magazine. I think I'm a little torn on which to save my money on, Aliens: Colonial Marines, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(By the way, that's coming out November tenth of this year!!!:)!!!)

I hope the rumours of SEGA pulling funding arent true - a dedicated Aliens game is much better then this AvP crap.

I can't believe this, thought the no show was suspcious. Why can't Gearbox get stuff out in time?
