Contrary to earlier indications, Aliens: Colonial Marines will come to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC late in 2008...

When SEGA's Alien FPS got a title last week early indications were that the game would get a 2009 release. In a welcome anomaly for the games industry, where releases are constantly being delayed, official word from SEGA on Aliens: Colonial Marines sets a late 2008 release.

SEGA and developers Gearbox are also set to make gamers feel like the heart of a cohesive United States Colonial Marines unit with an extensive squad system. 4 player co-op will be supported in this system while players will be able to utilise classic Aliens weapons such as pulse rifles and flamethrowers.

The game aims to recreate the brilliance of the early movies with lashings of suspense and atmosphere, which will be helped along by writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle (Battlestar Galactica and Deep Space Nine).

As a United States Colonial Marine, you'll be encountering environments influenced by the first couple of films including the abandoned Sulaco (the spiky looking transport ship in Aliens that gets Ripley + Marines to LV-426).

This is BS - AvP is horrible and all the previous AvP games have been mediocre at best.  I'm so mad about this right now.  I thought the guy in the Gamestop store had lost his mind when he told me "Next Year".  Alien and Aliens need a game of this calibur to bring it back strong.  Pushed out over a year? Yeah right - we'll be lucky to ever see this game.  I will not be purchasing another crappy AvP game.

Listen I really think they need to come out with this game first due to the fact of well what if we do not like AVP ok what then you are not going to put out Alien:colonial marines. I mean ths game is already done why don't you guys just send it out for us to see what it is like and then when you guys get finished with AVP since you guys are not even done making it we might get it if we like that alien game.

Well considering Aliens: Colonial Marines wont be out till 2010, it's an easy choice surely?

I just saw that this game was coming out when I was looking through an Xbox 360 magazine. I think I'm a little torn on which to save my money on, Aliens: Colonial Marines, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(By the way, that's coming out November tenth of this year!!!:)!!!)

I hope the rumours of SEGA pulling funding arent true - a dedicated Aliens game is much better then this AvP crap.
