SEGA To Resurrect Alien Syndrome News

Classic shooter set for an update on Wii and PSP; simultaneous launch during Summer 2007...

Alien Syndrome

SEGA has finally revealed the previously untitled game under development at Totally Games as an update of Alien Syndrome. The upcoming title, which is being produced for Wii and PSP ahead of a Summer 2007 launch, will be an action-RPG based on the original 1987 arcade shooter.

Following the adventures of Earth Command Trooper Aileen Harding (and not the original's Ricky and Mary), the game will feature both a single-player and four-player Co-Operative gameplay, with the Wii version taking advantage of the Wii-mote's motion control system. A level of character development will be implemented into the game, with players capable of upgrading Harding's attributes and weapons before a mission.

"Alien Syndrome(tm) is a great update of a classic franchise that has been designed to fit perfectly onto both the innovative Wii(tm) and the portable PSP(r)," said Matt Woodley, Creative Director, SEGA Publishing Europe Ltd. "Alien Syndrome(tm) is the only fast-paced, sci-fi action -RPG for the Wii(tm) and PSP(r) and brilliantly blends arcade-style shooter gameplay with elements from RPGs."

"Completely re-designed from the ground up for the PSP(r) and the Wii(tm), this new Alien Syndrome(tm) offers a refreshing blast-athon on a venerable classic," said Larry Holland, President and Creative Director of Totally Games. "As well, it has allowed us to exercise our science fiction chops to the fullest to create a totally involving futuristic action-RPG game experience."

SEGA filed for a trademark on the Alien Syndrome name back in September 2006.

We'll have more news shortly...

Nope, it's a resurrection of a classic Sega Arcade game. Was also re-made in the Sega Ages range released in Japan
