TVG grins like the Cheshire Cat as Disney announces the development of an Alice In Wonderland game...

Disney Interactive has announced the development of an Alice In Wonderland game that will release in conjunction with Tim Burton's upcoming film starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway. The game is being released in the same week as the film's release (March 5th 2010) for the DS, Wii, and PC.

As with the film, the game's story is set after the events of Lewis Carroll's original stories when Alice returns to Wonderland in her late teens. Alice must find her way through Underland by solving puzzles and unravelling mysteries, before ultimately defeating the Red Queen and Jabberwocky to restore Underland back into Wondelrand.

Along the way, players can call upon characters such as the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat to solve various puzzles, with the Cheshire Cat having the ability to make things disappear and the Mad Hatter being able to suss-out optical illusions. The March Hare and White Rabbit will come along for the ride too.

"These games fully capture the magnificent and whimsical world of Underland while experiencing key moments from the film," said Craig Relyea, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. "More than just a retelling of the movie, Alice in Wonderland introduces fans to an entirely new style of innovative gameplay designed to challenge the puzzle solving skills of older players while making the adventures accessible and enjoyable for the younger crowd. Innovative gameplay and distinct artistic styles on each platform gives players a range of unique and engaging experiences."

Alice In Wonderland is being developed by French studio Etranges Libellules, which previously developed the home console versions of Arthur and the Invisibles (a.k.a. Arthur and the Minimoys).
