Funcom To Expand Conan's Adventures News

New PvP, dozens of quests, and Guild alliances just some of the new features coming to Age of Conan...

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures

Having celebrated one of the most successful MMO launches since World of Warcraft, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures' developer Funcom, has today revealed a selection of new features heading to the new title in the coming months.

Not content with the standard gory-heavy PvP gameplay already enjoyed by subscribers, the first major update for the game will be 'To The Death', which expands PvP combat with consequences. For instance, killing lower level opponents will increase the chance for others to hunt you down, forming a new 'Fugitive' system. To the Death is on track to launch before the end of June.

A couple of other 'MASSIVE' (the all-Caps is Funcom, not us!) updates are also in the works, including Guild Alliance Warfare, allowing guilds from across Hyboria to forge new alliances and Battlekeeps - not to mention enhancements to village building. The Autumn will also see the launch of a 'Powerpoints' system, which enhances player characters through 'active in-game behaviours' such as owning Battlekeeps, reaching Level 80, and winning PvP matches.

Additional areas, dungeons, and quests are also being planned in the coming months.

"While we have enjoyed the initial success for Age of Conan, we know that a solid launch is but the start when it comes to the MMO genre," said Gaute Godager, Game Director on Age of Conan. "As we look ahead we are preparing a huge amount of new content, and what we are presenting today will evolve Age of Conan even further. It's naturally an incredibly ambitious update plan for a live MMO game, but we are certain our players would want nothing less."

Regardless of what you think, the teens will still play it.

This is, hands down, the best MMORPG out there when it comes to gameplay, immersion, and mature content and players. No more irritating 13 year olds!

Check out the Funcom website. They shipped 700,000 copies to retail, but a recent press release maintains that over 400,000 have logged on and started playing since it released.

Erm...where did you get the information from in this article? Common knowledge is that the game sold over 700 000 copies (110 000 of those collectors editions) on the first day of release, meaning that it beat WoW's North American & European release sales by over 170 000 on the first day. It therefore does not pale in comparison to WoW's initial sales, but beat it by quite a margin...

Dang, this has been delayed so much that I almost forgot about it. Looks like they've improved on it, but it still needs work. I think that's why they moved the release back yet again.

this says the 360 version will release the same time as the pc version which is incorrect, if the pc version releases march 25th (which it will probably be pushed back again) then the 360 version will most likely come out around september.

It's nice to see that they stuck to the gritty dark world of R.E. Howard. They could have toned it down for children like so many other games. It's nice to see a PC game geared to an older generation.
