The World Cup is set to appear across all seven platforms this April...

Following on from news earlier in the year, Electronic Arts has today confirmed that 2006 FIFA World Cup will be released in April 2006. The game, which will see players take one of 127 national teams through the qualification stages to tournament itself and beyond, will be out across all formats including the Xbox 360.

All twelve stadiums from the real-world World Cup will be featured in the game, with over 100 global superstars recreated to feature the abilities of their counterparts across a number of modes, including Global Challenge, which recreates forty of some of the tournaments classic moments. Certain platforms will also enjoy up to eight-player multiplayer though EA is yet to confirm figures for specific formats.

We'll have more on 2006 FIFA World Cup shortly...
